Open-cut and jacked pipe beneath a highway with round-the-clock traffic. Tight traffic control with alternating day and night shifts was required. Long drives under major junctions demanded precise jacking alignment, and temporary mains kept existing customers supplied.

what we delivered

Transmission main 1,200 mm (~363 m by open-cut, shaft laying and jacking), transmission main 1,000 mm (~1,544 m), and distribution main 300 mm (~1,366 m open-cut).

how it was built

Launch and reception shafts of 3.50 × 7.00 m (about 5 m deep) supported jacking drives with pipe segments no longer than 6 m. Each drive ran roughly 150–200 m, followed by tie-ins at connection points.

Impact

Higher distribution capacity for existing customers and an expanded service area.
